Pay: $20 Per Hour – Paid every Friday.
Schedule: 1st Shift: TBD
Available for overtime and weekends if needed

Job Summary:
The Foster Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shelter's foster program, ensuring animals placed in temporary homes receive compassionate, consistent, and high-quality care. This role serves as the primary point of contact for foster families, providing guidance, resources, and support while coordinating placements and monitoring animal wellbeing. The ideal candidate is highly organized, empathetic, and able to communicate effectively in emotionally sensitive situations while maintaining a solutions-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing welcoming, patient, and knowledgeable support to foster parents, helping them navigate animal care, behavior concerns, and shelter procedures.
  • Using calm, effective deescalation strategies when fosters face stress, frustration, or emergencies, ensuring all interactions remain respectful and centered on safety and wellbeing.
  • Prioritizing the physical and emotional wellbeing of all foster animals by monitoring reports, responding promptly to concerns, and ensuring animals are placed in appropriate foster homes.
  • Coordinating foster placements by evaluating animal needs, reviewing foster capabilities, and maintaining clear, compassionate communication throughout the placement process.
  • Offering ongoing guidance and problemsolving to fosters, promoting confidence, animal welfare, and positive outcomes for both families and animals.
  • Collaborating closely with shelter staff, medical teams, and volunteers to ensure foster animals receive timely care, behavioral support, and necessary resources.
  • Maintaining organized records, tracking foster outcomes, and identifying opportunities to strengthen program processes and community engagement.
Required Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in animal care, animal welfare, veterinary medicine, shelter operations, or customer service preferred.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers, foster programs, or community outreach is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful or emotionally challenging situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working with animals of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions.
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, standing, walking, and handling animals safely.
