Position Overview

The Floor Care Technician is responsible for performing professional floor care and maintenance services at assigned commercial facilities and client locations.

This position requires attention to detail, proper equipment operation, knowledge of floor-care procedures, and the ability to complete projects according to company and client standards.

The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, safety-conscious, and takes pride in producing high-quality results.

Key ResponsibilitiesFloor Care Services

Technicians may be responsible for:

  • Stripping and refinishing hard-surface floors

  • Floor scrubbing and deep cleaning

  • Waxing and finishing floors

  • Burnishing and polishing floors

  • Operating floor buffers, automatic scrubbers, burnishers, extractors, and other floor-care equipment

  • Carpet cleaning and extraction as assigned

  • Spot cleaning and stain treatment

  • Maintaining floors according to the condition and requirements of the assigned facility

  • Performing routine and periodic floor maintenance

  • Preparing work areas before beginning floor-care projects

  • Properly setting up and securing work areas during cleaning activities

Equipment & Supplies

Technicians are responsible for:

  • Properly operating assigned floor-care equipment

  • Inspecting equipment before and after use

  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment after each project

  • Using cleaning chemicals and products according to established procedures

  • Maintaining an organized supply and equipment area

  • Reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment to management

  • Using appropriate personal protective equipment when required

Quality & Customer Service

Technicians are expected to:

  • Complete assigned projects according to company standards

  • Pay close attention to detail

  • Inspect completed work for quality

  • Correct deficiencies when identified

  • Follow client-specific requirements

  • Maintain professional conduct at client locations

  • Protect client property and equipment

  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and clients

  • Report damages, concerns, or unusual conditions promptly

Safety & Compliance

Floor Care Technicians are expected to follow all Crenshaw Janitorial Services safety procedures and client-specific requirements.

Employees must properly use equipment, chemicals, warning signs, personal protective equipment, and other safety materials.

Technicians must maintain awareness of wet floors, electrical equipment, chemical exposure, trip hazards, and other conditions that may create a safety risk.

Any accident, injury, property damage, equipment malfunction, or hazardous condition must be reported to management promptly.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates should demonstrate:

  • Previous floor-care, janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience

  • Ability to safely operate floor-care equipment

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Reliability and punctuality

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

The Floor Care Technician position may require employees to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods

  • Bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and reach

  • Push and pull floor-care equipment

  • Lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment

  • Perform repetitive movements

  • Work in areas that may be wet or require protective equipment

  • Operate machinery for extended periods

  • Perform physically demanding cleaning and restoration activities

Employees must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
