About the Role:

The Lead Toddler Teacher plays a pivotal role in shaping the early developmental experiences within an educational setting. This position creates a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment that supports children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth. The Lead Teacher leads the classroom team by designing and implementing age-appropriate curricula that align with developmental milestones and educational standards with an engaging and hands-on approach. Ultimately, the Lead Teacher fosters a foundation for lifelong learning and well-being by promoting positive interactions and responsive caregiving practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree: Hold an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field OR
  • CDA + Study Plan: Hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and be enrolled in a study plan leading to an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education OR
  • College Credits + Experience: Have a high school diploma/GED, at least 9 college credits in early childhood education or child development, 2 years of experience caring for children, and a formal study plan leading to a degree/further credits OR
  • Alternative Experience Track: Have a high school diploma/GED and at least 5 years of verified experience working in a permitted infant/toddler child care program.
  • Knowledge of child developmental milestones and best practices in care and education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with NYC, and NYS state regulations governing infant care and early childhood education.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities tailored to infants' needs and interests.
  • Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and support staff within the classroom to maintain high-quality care and education.
  • Monitor and document each child's developmental progress, adjusting care and learning strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment that complies with all health and safety regulations.
  • Engage with families regularly to share observations, provide guidance, and support their involvement in their child’s early learning.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing requirements and participate in ongoing professional development.
