EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT RN
Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurses are critical care medical practitioners who help doctors in medical emergencies. ER Nurses are expected to assist doctors, perform minor medical operations, and treat patients experiencing a critical injury, allergic reactions, or trauma.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises care given by LPNs and other nonprofessional staff, providing instruction as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Being ready to respond and equipped to deal with a medical emergency.
- Quickly assessing patient needs.
- Treating critical injuries, allergic reactions, and trauma.
- Performing minor medical operations.
- Cleaning wounds.
- Drawing blood.
- Maintaining emergency room care standards.
- Ensuring the efficiency of the patient check-in process.
- Displaying strong decision-making skills in emergency scenarios.
- Supports nursing care standards through adherence to existing policies and procedures.
- Participates in peer review as appropriate.
- Obtains and documents nursing history from patients and/or significant others that is comprehensive of present condition and prior problems. Performs basic assessment of patients, indicating adequate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Records vital signs, notes changes, and pursues more-specific investigations as needed. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and shows a fundamental understanding of its implications by reporting information to the physician and others caring for the patient, and by incorporating information in the nursing care plan.
- Evaluates and notes the patient's response to nursing care defined in the medical record.
- Assumes responsibility for professional growth by current reading and attendance at educational programs and unit conferences.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Current license to practice nursing in the state.
- Minimum of six month of recent experience as a professional nurse.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
