POSITION OVERVIEW

This role involves providing specialized medical and surgical care to pediatric and adult patients with disorders of the ear, hearing, and balance systems. The Otologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats conditions affecting the external, middle, and inner ear and related structures. As a key member of our practice, the Otologist will collaborate with physicians, audiologists, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care in a supportive and innovative environment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnose, manage, and treat a broad range of ear-related conditions in pediatric and adult patients, including hearing loss, chronic ear disease, tinnitus, dizziness and balance disorders, tympanic membrane disorders, and other conditions affecting the external, middle, and inner ear.
  • Perform medical and surgical procedures related to diseases and disorders of the ear based upon training, privileges, and patient needs.
  • Evaluate patients for hearing rehabilitation and implantable hearing technologies when clinically appropriate.
  • Interpret diagnostic findings and collaborate with audiologists and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care for otologic surgical patients.
  • Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, hearing rehabilitation, and preventative care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough medical records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing medical education.
  • Collaborate with other SOENTS physicians and specialists to provide coordinated patient care.


Requirements:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Education/Certification

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
  • Additional focused training and/or demonstrated experience in otology preferred.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency program.

Licensure

  • Valid Ohio medical license or eligibility to obtain one.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the ear, hearing, and balance systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
