APEX Placement & Consulting has partnered with an established manufacturing organization in Washtenaw County, MI seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join their leadership team. This is a confidential search for a hands-on quality professional who can lead the quality function while partnering closely with production, engineering, and leadership to strengthen processes, solve problems, and ensure products consistently meet customer expectations.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in a precision manufacturing environment and is equally comfortable developing quality systems, leading corrective actions, analyzing data, supporting the production floor, and building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee day-to-day quality operations throughout the manufacturing facility
  • Maintain, develop, and continuously improve the organization's Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Establish and monitor quality standards to ensure manufactured products consistently meet customer specifications and internal requirements
  • Lead investigations into nonconforming material, customer concerns, and internal quality issues
  • Drive root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action initiatives to identify issues and prevent recurrence
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality procedures, inspection standards, work instructions, and documentation
  • Partner with Production and Engineering teams to resolve quality concerns and improve manufacturing processes
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements to ensure appropriate quality controls are established
  • Oversee inspection processes, measurement methods, testing equipment, calibration, and quality records
  • Analyze quality data and KPIs including scrap, rework, defects, customer concerns, and corrective actions to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Lead and support internal, customer, and supplier quality audits
  • Work with suppliers to address incoming material concerns and improve supplier quality performance
  • Support new product introductions and ensure quality requirements are incorporated into manufacturing processes
  • Train and coach employees on quality standards, procedures, inspection requirements, and continuous improvement practices
  • Promote a strong culture of quality, safety, accountability, 5S, and continuous improvement
  • Provide quality reporting and recommendations to senior leadership
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive quality experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience in a Quality Manager, Quality Supervisor, Quality Engineer, or similar leadership capacity
  • Strong background in precision manufacturing, CNC machining, metal manufacturing, or another tight-tolerance production environment strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, or improving a Quality Management System
  • Strong knowledge of root-cause analysis, corrective actions, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, specifications, and tolerances
  • Experience with inspection equipment, measurement systems, calibration, and manufacturing quality processes
  • Previous experience supporting internal, customer, and supplier audits
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn quality data into actionable improvements
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with Production, Operations, Engineering, and senior leadership
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to establish quality expectations across all levels of an organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent manufacturing quality experience will be considered
  • ASQ certifications such as CQE, CQA, or CMQ/OE are a plus
