The MassageTherapist will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of the purpose, intent, and function of massage therapy for various client populations.

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of philosophical, psychological, physiological, and sociological bases for the use of massage therapy.

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of the use of current technologies in massage therapy assessment, treatment and evaluation.

  • Provide massage treatments to patient when there is an expectation that it will be advantageous to the patient.

  • Reviews patient's chart and all medical history prior to initiating treatments.

  • Works within the massage therapy scope of practice. Considers contraindications, patient limitations, and precautions when planning the patient's treatment sessions.

  • Consults with the RN Case Manager, Regional Manager or Director of Clinical Services, if there is a question as to whether the patient's condition is contraindicated for massage therapy.

  • Creates a physical environment (e.g. arrangement of space, furniture, equipment, etc.) that is conducive to effective therapy.

  • Documents all patient visits according to Harmony Hospice charting policies, in the EMR program within 24 hours of visit.

  • Communicates as an active member of the interdisciplinary team(s).

  • Coordinates treatment plan with interdisciplinary team.

  • Attend Team Meetings and/or IDT as requested

  • Safeguards all patient information according to HIPAA regulations.

  • Respects the patient's right to refuse, modify, or terminate treatment at any time.

  • Conducts all practices with a high level of integrity and in an ethical manner.

  • Maintains equipment and supplies in a sanitary manner according to universal precautions.

  • Complete annual on-going training/continuing education.

  • Participates in the QAPI hospice performance improvement program

  • Willingness to maintain comprehensive working knowledge regarding information systems and applicable software programs

Education:

Graduate of a massage therapy program accredited by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA)

Professional Experience:

  • 2-4 years of related experience, preferably with some hospice experience. An understanding of the emotional and physical issues pertaining to end-of-life clients
