About Origin Acoustics

At Origin, we believe Details Matter. We put the customer first, challenge conventional thinking, and take pride in creating products that combine thoughtful design, advanced technology, and exceptional quality.
We're looking for people who enjoy working with their hands, take pride in a great finish, notice the smallest imperfections, and care about the quality of the products they produce.
About the Role
Origin Acoustics is seeking an experienced Finishing Production Associate – Powder Coating & Paint to join our Semi-Custom Production team at our Las Vegas headquarters.
The primary focus of this position is powder coating, painting, surface preparation, and finishing. We're looking for someone who understands how proper preparation affects the final finish and who can consistently produce clean, high-quality results.
You'll work with a variety of metal components and will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying powder coating and paint, identifying and correcting finish imperfections, and maintaining high standards throughout the finishing process.
Our Semi-Custom Production team is cross-functional, so this role will also be trained in fabrication and assembly. While finishing expertise is the priority for this position, you must be willing to learn and contribute in other areas of production as workflow requires.
What You'll Do
Powder Coating, Painting & Finishing
- Prepare metal surfaces for powder coating and painting through cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and other preparation methods.
- Perform powder-coating operations using appropriate equipment, techniques, and application processes.
- Paint components and finished products according to production specifications and quality standards.
- Properly mask and protect areas that should not receive paint or powder coating.
- Set up, operate, and maintain powder-coating and painting equipment.
- Monitor coating application to achieve consistent coverage, texture, appearance, and finish.
- Inspect parts before and after coating for defects, imperfections, contamination, scratches, uneven coverage, or other quality concerns.
- Identify the cause of finish defects and perform rework or corrective preparation when necessary.
- Grind, sand, polish, and finish metal surfaces to achieve the required appearance before coating or painting.
- Follow established curing, handling, and finishing procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized paint, powder-coating, and preparation areas.
- Properly handle and store paints, powders, materials, tools, and finishing supplies.
- Follow all required safety procedures when working with finishing equipment, coatings, chemicals, tools, and machinery.
Fabrication & Assembly Cross-Training
- Cross-train in fabrication and assembly functions within the Semi-Custom Production department.
- Read and understand blueprints, CAD drawings, measurements, and production specifications.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.
- Assist with grinding, polishing, drilling, cutting, and other fabrication processes as trained.
- Assist with CNC-related processes based on experience and training.
- Assemble semi-custom products according to drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Move between finishing, fabrication, and assembly as production needs require.
- Work closely with teammates to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in powder coating, industrial painting, automotive painting, metal finishing, or a similar professional finishing environment.
- Hands-on experience preparing metal surfaces for paint or powder coating.
- Working knowledge of powder-coating processes, application techniques, and equipment.
- Experience with painting and paint preparation.
- Strong understanding of the importance of surface preparation in achieving a high-quality finished product.
- Ability to identify imperfections, contamination, uneven coating, surface defects, and other finish-quality issues.
- Experience safely using hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to read and understand basic blueprints, technical drawings, measurements, and production specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality finishes.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet production deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to cross-train in fabrication and assembly.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive production tasks.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials, parts, and finished products as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both powder coating and wet paint applications.
- Experience troubleshooting coating or paint defects.
- Experience with metal grinding, sanding, polishing, and surface preparation.
- Experience with spray guns and professional painting equipment.
- Experience working with custom colors or high-quality cosmetic finishes.
- Experience operating CNC or other fabrication equipment.
- Previous experience in custom, semi-custom, or low-volume manufacturing.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this position starts with the finish.
You understand that great powder coating and paint work begins long before the coating is applied. You pay attention to preparation, cleanliness, application, curing, handling, and final inspection. You can spot imperfections and take the time to correct them rather than allowing a quality issue to move to the next stage of production.
You'll become one of the team's go-to resources for powder coating, painting, and finishing, while also developing the ability to contribute in fabrication and assembly when needed.
You're someone who takes pride in seeing a raw component become a beautifully finished product and understands that, at Origin Acoustics, Details Matter.
Pay Range: $20.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
