The Online General Education Instructor is responsible for delivering approved curriculum in an engaging, professional, and effective online learning environment. This position provides instruction and student support through Canvas and other approved platforms, facilitates live and recorded instruction, communicates regularly with students, monitors student participation and attendance, provides timely feedback, and maintains accurate academic records
Essential Duties:
- Prepare for and deliver established and approved curriculum in accordance with course objectives, syllabi, and instructional guidelines.
- Complete all required course preparation prior to the start of each term.
- Welcome students and provide an overview of course expectations and requirements at the beginning of each term.
- Provide regular live and recorded instructional sessions in accordance with established online course requirements.
- Facilitate weekly discussions and actively engage with students to encourage participation, understanding, and student success.
- Provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback on student assignments and discussion activities.
- Maintain regular communication with students through approved college communication systems, including Canvas and college email.
- Hold scheduled office hours and provide students with opportunities to ask questions and receive academic support.
- Post weekly announcements, course expectations, reminders, and other information necessary to keep students informed and engaged.
- Monitor student participation, attendance, and academic progress and communicate concerns regarding inactive or struggling students to the appropriate campus administrator.
- Maintain accurate and timely attendance records, grades, and other required student documentation.
- Submit final grades and required academic records within established deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and follow FERPA and institutional requirements for all student communications and records.
- Maintain professional and appropriate communication with students, faculty, and staff and escalate student concerns to administration as appropriate.
- Participate in required faculty meetings, training, professional development, and other activities designed to support instructional quality and continuous improvement.
- Support student retention and academic success by identifying concerns early and providing appropriate guidance, resources, and referrals.
- Follow all institutional policies, procedures, academic standards, and applicable accreditation requirements.
- Perform other instructional and student-support duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
This position is primarily performed in an online environment and requires the ability to communicate effectively through video, audio, email, and other electronic platforms. The position requires sufficient computer skills and vision to use digital systems and review student work, as well as the ability to communicate clearly and interact with students for extended periods.
Working HoursHours may include scheduled instructional sessions, office hours, student communication, grading, course preparation, and other administrative responsibilities. Online instructors may be assigned to daytime or evening schedules based on course needs
Minimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree, with at least 15 semester credit hours (or the equivalent) in related subject areas
