Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary by assignment and may include:

  • Assist faculty and staff with academic and administrative projects.
  • Support classroom preparation and instructional activities.
  • Assist with research, data collection, and departmental projects.
  • Provide assistance with tutoring, learning support, laboratories, or academic resource centers, when applicable.
  • Assist with organizing files, reports, records, and departmental documentation.
  • Support student engagement activities and departmental events.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Perform other duties that support the mission and operations of the assigned department.

Position Summary

Student Assistants in academic departments support faculty, staff, and students through academic services, research assistance, departmental projects, and other activities that contribute to the University’s educational mission. These positions provide students with opportunities to develop professional skills while gaining practical experience in an academic environment.

Assignments are available in various academic departments and support units based on departmental needs and the student’s qualifications, interests, skills, and availability.


Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary by assignment and may include:

  • Assist faculty and academic staff with departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Support classroom preparation, laboratory activities, and academic resources.
  • Assist with research activities, data collection, and organization of project materials under faculty or staff supervision.
  • Help prepare instructional materials, reports, presentations, and departmental documentation.
  • Support tutoring, peer mentoring, student success initiatives, or academic support services, when applicable.
  • Assist with academic events, workshops, meetings, and student engagement activities.
  • Organize records, maintain information, and provide general support to academic departments.
  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Perform other duties that support the mission and operations of the assigned department.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled as an undergraduate student at Madonna University.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be dependable, professional, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Possess basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and be willing to learn University software and systems.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly wage in accordance with University student employment guidelines.
  • Approximately 10–15 hours per week, based on departmental needs and student availability.
  • Flexible scheduling that supports academic success.

Department Assignment

Student Assistants may be assigned to academic schools, departments, laboratories, libraries, research projects, tutoring and learning centers, or other academic support units.

Assignments are based on departmental needs and the student’s qualifications, experience, interests, and availability. Specific responsibilities, work schedules, and reporting relationships will be provided at the time of appointment.
