Housekeeper
Job Description
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors throughout the assisted living facility. The Housekeeper performs routine cleaning and sanitation of resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, dining areas, hallways, and other designated areas in accordance with facility policies, infection-control practices, and applicable New York State requirements.
The Housekeeper is expected to treat all residents with dignity and respect and to maintain a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner at all times.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResident Rooms and BathroomsClean and disinfect resident rooms and bathrooms according to the facility's housekeeping schedule.
Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors and surfaces.
Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, grab bars, and other bathroom fixtures.
Empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash appropriately.
Clean mirrors, windows, doors, furniture, and other assigned surfaces.
Report damaged furniture, fixtures, equipment, or environmental hazards to the supervisor.
Notify the appropriate staff member of any significant spills, unsafe conditions, pest concerns, or maintenance issues.
Respect resident belongings and maintain resident privacy while cleaning.
Clean and disinfect hallways, lounges, activity rooms, elevators, stairways, offices, and other common areas.
Maintain cleanliness of high-touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, light switches, elevator buttons, and other frequently touched areas.
Maintain clean and sanitary dining areas in accordance with facility procedures.
Clean floors and promptly address spills or other conditions that could create a fall hazard.
Maintain assigned areas in a neat and orderly condition throughout the shift.
Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens and other facility laundry as assigned.
Handle soiled linens in accordance with facility infection-control procedures.
Maintain clean and sanitary laundry areas.
Report malfunctioning laundry equipment or supply shortages to the supervisor.
Ensure clean linens are stored appropriately and protected from contamination.
