Position Summary

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision, support, and development of therapists and clinical staff. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based clinical services while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements. The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical consultation, oversees treatment planning and documentation, supports staff development, and serves as a resource for complex clinical cases.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Supervision
  1. Provide regular individual and group supervision to therapists and assigned clinical staff.

  2. Review clinical cases and provide guidance regarding assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and interventions.

  3. Support therapists in managing complex clinical presentations, crises, and risk concerns.

  4. Monitor adherence to ethical standards, professional boundaries, and licensing requirements.

  5. Provide clinical consultation and support regarding patient care and treatment decisions.

Documentation & Quality Assurance
  1. Review clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance.

  2. Conduct routine chart audits of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other clinical records.

  3. Ensure documentation is completed within required timeframes.

  4. Provide feedback and corrective coaching related to documentation deficiencies.

  5. Assist with quality improvement initiatives and performance monitoring.

Staff Development & Training
  1. Assist with onboarding and training of new therapists and clinical staff.

  2. Identify staff training needs and support professional development.

  3. Facilitate clinical trainings, case consultations, and educational opportunities.

  4. Assist staff in achieving professional growth and competency development.

  5. Support licensure supervision requirements when applicable.

Patient Care & Treatment Oversight
  1. Monitor treatment planning to ensure services are individualized, clinically appropriate, and aligned with patient needs.

  2. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and patient staffing.

  3. Assist with assessments, crisis interventions, family sessions, or direct patient care as needed.

  4. Ensure patients receive clinically appropriate levels of care and treatment recommendations.

  5. Support continuity of care and successful patient outcomes.

Compliance & Program Support
  1. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, payer requirements, state regulations, and organizational policies.

  2. Report clinical concerns, compliance issues, and risk management matters to leadership.

  3. Assist with preparation for accreditation surveys and audits.

  4. Support implementation of clinical initiatives, policies, and program improvements.

  5. Collaborate with case management, medical, admissions, and leadership teams to support patient care.

Minimum QualificationsEducation
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.

Licensure
  • Active independent clinical license in the state of practice (LISW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent).

Experience
  • Minimum of three years of post-licensure clinical experience.

  • Previous supervisory, leadership, or clinical training experience preferred.

  • Experience in residential treatment, PHP, IOP, mental health, and/or substance use treatment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health and substance use treatment practices.

  • Expertise in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical interventions.

  • Knowledge of documentation standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentorship skills.

  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility as needed.

  • Ability to respond appropriately during crisis situations.

  • Ability to perform computer-based work for extended periods.

Work Environment

This position operates within a behavioral healthcare treatment environment and requires regular interaction with patients, families, referral sources, and multidisciplinary treatment teams.


M-F 9am-5pm, On-call as needed
