Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources & Compliance Specialist to support a growing commercial electrical contractor with more than 150 employees. This is a full-time, in-person position responsible for managing key HR functions including employee relations, recruiting, compliance, onboarding, benefits, workers' compensation, leaves, payroll coordination, performance management, discipline, and terminations.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned HR professional who can work independently, handle sensitive employee matters, reduce compliance risk, and help strengthen HR systems as the company continues to grow.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day HR operations and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Lead recruiting, screening, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Handle employee relations, complaints, investigations, discipline, and performance issues.
  • Maintain compliance with California employment and wage-and-hour laws.
  • Coordinate payroll, timekeeping, benefits, and employee status changes.
  • Manage leaves of absence, accommodations, and return-to-work processes.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims and workplace injury documentation.
  • Draft and maintain HR policies, handbooks, forms, and procedures.
  • Support managers and leadership with HR decisions and employee matters.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, compliance trackers, and HR reporting.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and wage-and-hour compliance.
  • Experience handling employee relations and workplace investigations.
  • Experience supporting hourly, field-based, or skilled-trade employees.
  • Strong recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, workers' compensation, leave, and termination experience.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Construction or skilled-trades HR experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting 100+ employees preferred.
  • SHRM, PHR, SPHR, PHRca, or similar certification is a plus.
