Job Description
LED Luminaires Design Engineer
Picture your day: you kick off with a quick sync alongside manufacturing, product management, and sales to review a new concept. By lunch, you’ve iterated a luminaire design, run a first-pass thermal model, and verified electrical assumptions. In the afternoon, you’re reviewing photometric results, confirming paths to UL/DLC compliance, and scoping a custom variant for a specification-driven project. You wrap by brainstorming how human-centric controls can elevate the next release.
What You’ll Do- Design and develop LED luminaires and full lighting systems for commercial and industrial environments.
- Partner closely with manufacturing, product management, and sales to move products from concept through pilot to volume production.
- Execute photometric analyses, thermal management studies, and electrical design validation to confirm performance and reliability.
- Support custom and spec-driven requests, tailoring solutions to unique project needs.
- Ensure designs align with industry requirements and certifications such as UL, DLC, and applicable energy codes.
- Drive ongoing innovation in efficiency, controls integration, and human-centric lighting features.
- Diagnose field and production issues, then refine and improve existing product lines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Hands-on experience in lighting, LED systems, or electrical product design (this is big).
- Working knowledge of:
- LED drivers, control strategies, and power architectures.
- Photometrics and lighting layouts; AGi32 or similar is a plus.
- Thermal and mechanical design considerations.
- Comfort operating in a practical, shop-floor manufacturing setting.
- Collaborative mindset—this is a team-first culture.
- Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
- Design and develop LED luminaires and lighting systems
- Electrical Product Design
