Job Title: Charge Nurse
Location: Belmont, NC
Job Type: Part-Time Night Shift Position, 48 hours per pay period, 12 Hour Shifts, 7pm-7am, Every Weekend

Job Summary:
The Charge Nurse is responsible for implementing the plan of care for each Sister, providing high-quality clinical services, and supervising CNAs, NAs, and HHAs on duty. This role requires leadership, clinical expertise, and a compassionate approach to care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee shift operations and supervise nursing staff and caregivers to ensure high-quality, compassionate care for the Sisters.

  • Orient, train, support, and provide guidance to nursing staff while delegating responsibilities fairly and effectively.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and Resident Care Administrator to implement physician orders and individualized care plans.

  • Monitor staffing schedules and help ensure adequate shift coverage.

  • Complete nursing assessments and provide direct clinical care, including medications, treatments, procedures, IV therapy, wound care, oxygen administration, tube feedings, catheter care, and other services within the nurse’s scope of practice.

  • Review and document physician orders, laboratory results, treatments, procedures, nursing notes, and changes in condition.

  • Coordinate hospital transfers, emergency room visits, and medical appointments, ensuring required records and documentation accompany the Sister.

  • Complete incident reports and promptly communicate falls, injuries, safety concerns, changes in condition, and other significant events to appropriate leadership.

  • Maintain a safe, clean environment; follow infection-control, emergency-response, body-mechanics, and resident-safety procedures.

  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with Sisters, families, visitors, coworkers, medical providers, and management.

  • Participate in rotating schedules, including weekends, holidays, occasional additional shifts, and on-call responsibilities as needed.

  • Follow all organizational policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and community guidelines, and perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications:
Required

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in nursing, preferably with geriatric or dementia care.

  • Current and valid licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse

  • Current basic life support training

  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships with a broad range of employees and external contacts

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities,

Preferred:

  • Experience in healthcare or residential care settings.

  • Familiarity with the Catholic Church structures and teaching

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 75 lbs.

  • Must be able to safely use a 10" step stool.

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

  • Use of proper body mechanics and safety equipment for resident care.
