Under the general supervision of the Physical Medicine Supervisor and according to standards of treatment, performs objective assessments as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all ages according to departmental policies and procedures regarding referral.\n
\n- Perform initial assessment on each patient upon receiving referral. Document all information according to departmental policies and procedures.\n
\n- Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimens, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.\n
\n- Participate in promoting education within the department.\n
\n- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.\n
\n- Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.\n

What You'll DoPatient Evaluation & Treatment\n
\n - Perform comprehensive speech-language pathology evaluations upon referral.
\n - Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
\n - Administer evidence-based therapies and treatment techniques in accordance with departmental standards.
\n - Reassess patient progress regularly and update goals as needed.
\n - Provide swallowing, communication, cognitive, and rehabilitative therapy services across the lifespan.
\n - Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and patient outcomes accurately and timely.
\n
Patient & Family Education\n
\n - Educate patients and families on treatment goals, home programs, precautions, and expected outcomes.
\n - Provide written home exercise and therapy instructions prior to discharge.
\n - Empower caregivers with the knowledge and skills needed to support recovery and ongoing therapy efforts.
\n
Collaboration & Communication\n
\n - Partner with physicians, therapists, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
\n - Recommend appropriate equipment and support services when needed.
\n - Communicate patient progress and treatment recommendations professionally and effectively.
\n
Professional Development & Leadership\n
\n - Participate in departmental education, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities.
\n - Attend staff meetings and required hospital training programs.
\n - Assist with onboarding and mentoring new team members.
\n - Supervise Speech-Language Pathology students in accordance with organizational standards and policies.
\n
QualificationsRequired Education\n
\n - Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
\n
Required Licensure\n
\n - Current or Provisional Speech-Language Pathologist License in the applicable state of practice.
\n
Required Certifications\n
\n - American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certification within one year of hire (extensions may be granted at the discretion of leadership and clinical fellowship supervisor).
\n - Current BLS Certification.
\n - All required certifications must remain current before independently providing patient care.
\n
Preferred Experience\n
\n - One year of Speech-Language Pathology experience preferred.
\n - Experience treating patients across all age groups preferred.
\n
