Preschool Speech-Language Pathologist – AAC Focus

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for a full-time school-based contract position in Clinton, Illinois, for the 2026–2027 school year. This role will support a caseload of approximately 40 students, primarily in preschool with the possibility of serving some kindergarten students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), as several students use AAC devices as part of their communication plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide speech and language evaluations and therapy services to primarily PreK students.
  • Support students with a range of communication needs, including those who use AAC devices.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and IEP goals.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate service documentation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, special education staff, and related service providers.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team planning.
  • Provide services across 1–2 school sites as assigned.

Caseload

  • Approximately 40 students.
  • Primarily preschool-aged students.
  • Possible kindergarten students.
  • Several students utilize AAC devices.

Qualifications

  • Illinois Speech-Language Pathologist licensure/credentialing required.
  • ASHA certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of AAC systems and implementation preferred.

Experience

  • Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred.
  • Strong experience supporting students who use AAC is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Knowledge of AAC strategies, devices, and communication supports.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with young students and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills.
