The Farmer's House is seeking an experienced Director of Medicaid Programs in the Kansas City Metro area to oversee developmental disability services for over 70 adults. This full-time exempt leadership role manages a team of approximately 20 Direct Support Professionals and administrative staff across Day Habilitation, Transportation, Individual Skill Development, Community Networking, and Individual Supported Living programs. The position balances operational oversight, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and hands-on community engagement to ensure person-centered care and maximize independence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate Direct Support Professionals and administrative personnel.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations for Day Habilitation, Transportation, Individual Skill Development, Community Networking, and Individual Supported Living programs.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with Medicaid, Missouri Department of Mental Health standards, CARF accreditation requirements, and Columbus Group guidelines.
  • Review service documentation, T-logs, and transportation records in Therap to ensure accurate Medicaid billing and timely submission to the Department of Mental Health.
  • Lead person-centered support planning, ensuring SMART goals are implemented to promote skill development, self-expression, and community integration.
  • Maintain oversight of program budgets, staffing schedules, safety protocols, medication monitoring, emergency drills, and quality assurance audits.
  • Serve on the executive leadership team to establish key performance indicators, participate in annual budgeting, and align program outcomes with strategic plans.
  • Build collaborative partnerships with individuals, families, guardians, support coordinators, and community organizations.
  • Provide on-call management support and travel between program sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Human Services, Education, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field, with a Master degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing Medicaid-funded programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, coaching, and scheduling direct support staff and program administrators.
  • Strong knowledge of Missouri Department of Mental Health regulations, CARF accreditation standards, and Medicaid billing procedures.
  • Proficiency with electronic documentation systems, specifically Therap software.
  • Proven ability to manage program budgets, track key performance indicators, and lead quality assurance initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to travel between program locations and fulfill occasional evening or weekend responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with direct support care as needed.

Compensation

  • Salary range of $70,000 to $85,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and professional experience.
