Job Description
Job Title: Assembly Technician Location: Chattanooga, TN Type: Direct Hire Compensation: Work Model: Onsite – onsite Hours: 40.0
Responsibilities • Perform mechanical assembly of machined and fabricated components using hand tools, torque tools, measuring tools, and approved assembly methods. • Read and follow blueprints, work instructions, torque specifications, and quality documentation. • Verify fit, alignment, torque, dimensional accuracy, and inspection readiness throughout the assembly process. • Complete required assembly documentation accurately and support first article inspections, quality checks, and audit readiness as needed. • Troubleshoot basic to complex assembly sequencing, fit-up, alignment, and build issues. • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while following PPE, lockout/tagout, lifting, and material handling requirements. • Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce defects, rework, variation, and build cycle time. • Mentor or coach junior assemblers when assigned and support standard work within the assembly cell.
Requirements • Ability to use hand tools, torque tools, and basic measurement tools safely and effectively. • Ability to read and interpret basic to advanced blueprints depending on role level. • Understanding of mechanical assembly, alignment, fit-up, tolerances, and inspection requirements. • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented work instructions. • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a production environment. • For senior, lead, and specialist roles, demonstrated troubleshooting, mentoring, leadership, or process improvement capability is required. • OSHA safety onboarding, including PPE and lockout/tagout awareness. • Basic, intermediate, or advanced blueprint reading based on position level. • Torque tool training and torque sequencing certification where required. • Basic and precision measurement tool competency. • Overhead crane certification, where applicable. • Advanced GD&T, SPC, quality systems awareness, lean/continuous improvement, and process documentation training for senior, lead, and specialist positions.
