Job Description
CNC HMC & Robotic Welding Reliability Technician
Picture your shift: you arrive on the floor, review the maintenance line-up, and dive into your route—robotic welding cells first, then CNC HMC mills and special purpose machines. A robotic welder throws an alarm; you isolate the fault, trace it through sensors and the PLC, correct a pneumatic issue, verify the fix, and document the repair. By mid-shift, you’re rebuilding a subassembly on an SPM, then supporting an operator by coaching best practices that prevent repeat failures. You close the day collaborating with the team on a CI idea to lift OEE on a troublesome assembly machine.
What you’ll handle- Execute maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, preventive work, and daily care on equipment including robot welding cells, CNC HMC machines, SPMs, compressors, press assembly, and assembly machines—working independently with limited guidance.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues quickly to reduce downtime.
- Complete machine repairs and rebuilds per the scheduled line-up and record all work performed with clear documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, processes, and overall plant OEE; promote teamwork and cooperation across the shop.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Hands-on troubleshooting background with CNC HMC mills (Makino / Moriseiki), robotic welding systems, press assembly equipment, compressors, hydraulics, and facility/general plant equipment.
- Industrial maintenance training in mechanical/hydraulic systems or equivalent relevant experience.
- Comfort with complex machinery, electrical circuits, sensors, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics; strong ability to interpret symptoms and take decisive action.
- Ability to train, assist, lead, direct, instruct, and discipline employees as needed.
- Knowledge of MIOSHA and applicable government safety regulations; committed to safe work practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and basic analysis.
- Strong time management, urgency, self-motivation, and dependable work ethic; clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of standing for extended periods on the shop floor.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Willing to work flexible hours on 1st or 2nd shift, as needed by production.
- CNC HMC platforms (Makino / Moriseiki), welding robots, SPMs, assembly machinery, compressors, and plant utilities.
- Control and support systems: sensors, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related circuits.
If you thrive on solving tough equipment problems and take pride in improving uptime, this role is your next step.
