Job Description
Maintenance Technician Level 2
Under direction of the Chief Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor or other appropriate administrative staff responsible for general maintenance and/or repairs to buildings and grounds and to perform related tasks as required.
• Sees that the building has adequate heating, lighting, and ventilation and that it is properly cleaned and in good working condition.
• Has or can obtain a Maintenance electrician license.
• Has or can obtain a boiler operator permit.
• Makes repairs and inspections of equipment.
• Completes time cards and other routine records for proper reporting and record keeping.
• Maintains records of maintenance activities at assigned locations.
• Performs general repairs such as painting, patching walls, hanging shelves, and landscaping.
• Operates machinery and equipment.
• Inspects repairs and maintains the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in assigned locations.
• Inspects, operates and maintains the heating, cooling and ventilation systems (including boiler system if applicable) in assigned locations.
• Arranges desks, files, and other office equipment.
• Performs janitorial duties and other related tasks as required.
• Knowledge in maintenance supplies, equipment, materials, and methods used in janitorial and building maintenance work.
• Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance in using equipment to complete assigned tasks.
• Meet and deal tactfully and courteously with fellow employees, vendors, contractors and clients.
• Performs supervisory duties over Maintenance Technician 3, apprentices, and day porter as assigned.
• Determines material, equipment, and supplies to be used. Transfers equipment and personnel from one site to another as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:• Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in building maintenance and operations.
• Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have dependable transportation.
• Employee will be required to provide necessary hand tools customary to perform most routine job functions.
• Can lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work off of ladders at various heights.
• Must be able to read, understand, and follow product manuals and safety instructions.
• Must be familiar with ADA requirements.
