Position Summary
Reliance One, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Coordinator to support one of our trusted clients within the automotive manufacturing industry.
The Construction Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing general contractors, subcontractors, testing agencies, construction schedules, and field activities for facility construction projects. This position will help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
The ideal candidate will bring strong construction project management experience, preferably within an automotive assembly, powertrain, or manufacturing facility, and will be comfortable coordinating contractors, reviewing project changes, monitoring field activities, and communicating project status to key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Construction & Contractor Management
- Manage general contractor and subcontractor field construction activities
- Direct and coordinate contractor and subcontractor activities to support project schedules and ensure compliance with plans and specifications
- Coordinate testing agencies and other project resources
- Conduct on-site inspections to monitor construction progress and compliance
- Administer construction contracts and support overall project execution
- Maintain a thorough understanding of current and upcoming construction activities within assigned areas
- Develop and implement countermeasures when necessary to maintain project schedules
Safety
- Manage contractor compliance with established construction safety requirements
- Promote and maintain an incident-free project environment
- Identify and address potential safety concerns throughout construction activities
Project Budget & Schedule
- Support project budgets, schedules, and overall construction milestones
- Complete daily field status reports for management review
- Review contractor change orders and validate scope and associated costs
- Submit change orders for owner review and approval
- Support cost estimating and construction scheduling activities
- Monitor project progress and identify potential schedule risks or delays
- Develop and coordinate countermeasures to keep projects on schedule
Project Communication & Documentation
- Coordinate communication between the owner, contractors, subcontractors, and Architecture/Engineering (A/E) firms
- Support the review and processing of Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, shop drawings, and construction documents
- Review and coordinate contract changes throughout project delivery
- Prepare and present project status reports to ownership and management
- Maintain clear communication between all parties throughout the construction process
Meetings & Project Coordination
- Support weekly general contractor meetings
- Prepare and maintain meeting minutes
- Track action items and follow up to ensure timely completion
- Coordinate activities between contractors, project teams, support departments, and user groups
Project Close-Out & Commissioning
- Coordinate as-built documentation
- Coordinate Operations & Maintenance manuals and required documentation
- Coordinate training for user groups and support departments
- Support commissioning and start-up activities
- Review, prepare, and coordinate completion of punch-list activities
- Complete and coordinate required acceptance testing procedures
- Ensure project close-out requirements are completed accurately and on schedule
Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction project management experience with a construction company and/or Architecture/Engineering (A/E) firm
- Automotive manufacturing construction experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting automotive assembly plants, powertrain facilities, unit plants, or similar large-scale manufacturing environments preferred
- Experience managing general contractors and subcontractors
- Strong knowledge of construction procedures, building materials, plans, and specifications
- Experience with cost estimating and project scheduling
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively coordinate multiple contractors, stakeholders, and project priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and implement effective countermeasures
Education & Experience
One of the following backgrounds is preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field
OR
- Skilled trades background with significant supervisory experience as a Superintendent, Project Manager, or similar construction leadership role
