Location: Boston, MA
Salary: $260,000–$365,000

Direct Counsel is seeking an Employment & Labor Associate Attorney to join a leading Am Law firm's Employment & Labor practice in Boston. This opportunity is ideal for a mid-level associate with 3–5 years of experience providing sophisticated employment counseling to employers, particularly in the areas of statutory and regulatory compliance, executive employment matters, and employment issues arising in corporate transactions.

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced practice advising clients on a broad range of employment matters, with opportunities to handle sophisticated transactional and counseling work. Litigation experience is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Advise employers on a broad range of employment and labor matters.
  • Counsel clients regarding federal and state statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate executive employment agreements.
  • Draft and negotiate separation and severance agreements.
  • Advise clients on employment-related policies, procedures, and compliance matters.
  • Counsel clients regarding employment issues arising in corporate transactions.
  • Support Mergers & Acquisitions and other corporate transactions by identifying and addressing employment-related risks and considerations.
  • Conduct legal research and provide practical, business-oriented advice to clients.
  • Draft legal memoranda, correspondence, agreements, and other employment-related documents.
  • Assist with employment litigation and disputes, as needed.
  • Work closely with partners, clients, and attorneys across practices on sophisticated employment matters.
  • Manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 3–5 years of broad employment and labor experience.
  • Significant experience with employment counseling.
  • Experience advising clients regarding statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating executive employment and separation agreements.
  • Experience handling employment issues arising in Mergers & Acquisitions and other corporate transactions.
  • Employment litigation experience is a plus.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and clients.

  • Competitive base salary of $260,000–$365,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
