Shift : 11 PM – 7:30 AM
Compensation: $30 - $33/hr + 15% hourly shift differential
Production Mechanic – Level 3
Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Production Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated production and packaging equipment. This position performs line changeovers, preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, equipment overhauls, and custom parts fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and operational equipment issues.
- Perform line changeovers and verify initial production quality.
- Complete preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and major overhauls.
- Repair bearings, chains, belts, sprockets, switches, cylinders, valves, and related components.
- Service fillers, cappers, labelers, cartoners, bundlers, case packers, unscramblers, and process equipment.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures, defective production, and recurring downtime.
- Document repairs, production delays, and maintenance activities.
- Fabricate replacement parts using machining, welding, brazing, and pipe-fitting skills.
- Maintain spare-parts inventory.
- Train production employees and junior mechanics on equipment operation and safety.
- Follow GMP, OSHA, ISO, sanitation, and company safety requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Four or more years of experience maintaining automated production or packaging equipment.
- Experience in food, pharmaceutical, beverage, consumer goods, or another high-speed manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read machinery blueprints, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and maintenance manuals.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring devices.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in at least three of the following:
- Welding
- Machine-shop practices
- Industrial electricity
- PLCs
- Pipe fitting
Welding experience should include stick, TIG, or MIG welding of stainless and carbon steel, as well as cutting and brazing.
