Machinery Assembler
Department: Machinery
Reports To: Machinery Supervisor
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Position Summary
The Machinery Assembler is responsible for the mechanical assembly of machine components, subassemblies, accessories, options, and completed machinery. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while following established procedures, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
The Machinery Assembler will use a variety of hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and other manufacturing equipment to assemble machinery accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will be capable of troubleshooting assembly issues, maintaining quality standards, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and working collaboratively with manufacturing and cross-functional teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assemble machine components, subassemblies, accessories, machine options, and final assemblies according to established procedures and specifications.
  • Read and interpret method sheets, work instructions, safety procedures, and basic engineering drawings.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and miscellaneous assembly equipment safely and effectively.
  • Troubleshoot assembly errors and mechanical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Follow directions and guidance from the Lead Assembler and Machinery Supervisor.
  • Train and assist peers in assembly procedures, processes, and best practices.
  • Promote and advocate for Design for Assembly (DFA) principles and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve assembly processes, efficiency, quality, safety, and material flow.
  • Provide constructive feedback to cross-functional manufacturing teams regarding assembly processes and potential improvements.
  • Accurately complete required production paperwork, documentation, and records.
  • Assist with monthly and annual physical inventory activities.
  • Properly utilize, maintain, clean, and care for all company-supplied tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Meet established productivity, quality, and completion standards.
  • Follow all company safety, security, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Flex working hours when reasonably necessary to support customer and production requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, subject to reasonable accommodations.
Required Competencies & Qualifications
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Mechanical & Technical Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical assembly principles.
  • Ability to assemble small components through large machine assemblies.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and correct assembly errors.
  • Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and production processes.
  • Understanding of material flow within a manufacturing facility.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems and basic MRP concepts.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Communication & Teamwork
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, lead assemblers, coworkers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback regarding manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Ability to train and support other employees.
  • Strong team-player mentality with the ability to work independently when required.

  • Follows established procedures for safe material handling and assembly operations.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technically oriented position preferred.
  • Previous mechanical assembly, manufacturing, machinery, industrial, maintenance, or technically oriented experience strongly preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Physical & Work Environment
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment for an entire scheduled shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive assembly activities as required.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment.
  • Ability to handle materials and components appropriate to the position.
  • Must be able to maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Must be willing to adjust working hours when reasonably necessary to meet customer or production needs.
