Position Summary:
The Cell Lead oversees day-to-day operations of a metal fabrication cell to ensure quality, productivity, and safety standards are met. This role includes leading a team of fabricators and machine operators, coordinating workflow, setting up machines, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring adherence to company procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the cell
- Assign tasks to team members based on production needs and employee skills
- Ensure production schedules and deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality standards
- Monitor and inspect work to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations
- Set-up and operate fabrication machinery and tools as needed
- Train, mentor, and support team members; provide feedback and report performance issues to management
- Troubleshoot fabrication problems and coordinate solutions with engineering and maintenance as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and company standards
- Support continuous improvement efforts in productivity, quality, and process optimization
Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Technical certifications or vocational training preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in metal fabrication, with at least 1 year in a leadership or lead role
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment (cutting, bending, welding, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and safety protocols
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
