Job Description
Step into a dynamic educational environment as a Teacher Consultant supporting middle school Special Education programming. This contract position begins August 31, 2026, and runs through June 11, 2027, with a consistent schedule of 36.25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:05 AM to 3:05 PM, plus 15 minutes of duty time before or after school.
In this role, you will partner closely with teachers, families, administrators, and related service providers to ensure effective special education services. Leverage your expertise to facilitate IEPs, 504 plans, METs, and evaluations, and play a key role within the MTSS and progress monitoring processes. You’ll provide both direct and consultative support, delivering interventions, assisting with behavior management, and ensuring compliance with IDEA, MARSE, and IEP protocols.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Michigan Teaching Certificate with one of the following endorsements: SM, SE, SA, or SV
- Approval as a Teacher Consultant OR at least 3 years of proven special education teaching experience in Michigan public schools
- Proficient in the development and maintenance of IEPs, progress monitoring, and understanding of legal compliance
- Adept at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and cultivating positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Deep knowledge of IDEA and MARSE regulations and best practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and guide middle school special education programming and compliance
- Facilitate, document, and lead IEP, MET, and 504 meetings
- Collaborate in MTSS efforts and deliver tailored interventions
- Provide consultative resources for teachers and teams managing complex learning needs
- Offer guidance on behavioral interventions and support strategies
