Special Education Teacher - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Exciting opportunity for an experienced Special Education Teacher to work with a dynamic 6th grade team just outside of Philadelphia! This contract position offers a chance to engage students in a co-teaching classroom while making a real impact on their educational journey. You’ll be collaborating daily with two other dedicated educators and will support a well-managed caseload of approximately 20 students.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience working at the middle school level, especially with 6th grade students
• Strong background in IEP creation and implementation
• Comfortable collaborating within a team setting and co-teaching environment
• Excellent communication skills for consistent parent and staff updates
• Passion for adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners

Key Responsibilities:

• Co-teach in a 6th grade inclusive classroom, partnering with two fellow teachers
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students
• Regularly assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed
• Maintain proactive communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student goals and achievements
• Contribute to a positive, supportive classroom culture
• Participate in department meetings and ongoing professional development
