Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students near Chesapeake, VA for the 2026-2027 school year. Experienced Special Education Teachers are needed to provide intensive academic and behavioral support. This role spans from August 24, 2026, through June 4, 2027, and involves a full-time commitment of 37.5 hours weekly at the elementary level.
As part of a dedicated group of professionals, you’ll play a key role in shaping the educational experience for students with diverse needs in a supportive environment. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Valid Adapted Curriculum K-12 license
- General Curriculum K-12 license (required only for those with self-contained classroom experience and behavioral expertise)
- Ineligible applicants include those with provisional licenses, so active VDOE credentials are a must
- Demonstrated experience working with elementary-age students requiring significant behavioral and academic interventions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, supportive, and fast-paced educational setting
Key responsibilities in this role:
- Deliver tailored instruction, supporting academic development and positive behavioral outcomes for assigned caseloads
- Collaborate with colleagues, caregivers, and outside professionals to implement effective individualized education plans
- Adapt curriculum as needed for diverse learners, employing evidence-based strategies
- Maintain detailed records and reporting per school guidelines
