Role Summary

The Senior Classroom Technology Engineer serves as the technical lead for classroom and instructional technology systems, ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous enhancement of audiovisual and presentation technologies that support teaching and learning. This role combines hands-on technical expertise, operational leadership, and end-user support to deliver an exceptional classroom technology experience. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining instructional continuity, improving technology standards, and supporting faculty and staff through training and consultation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, upgrades, and repairs on classroom audiovisual and instructional technology systems.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize classroom technology environments to ensure reliable daily operation.
  • Respond to service incidents and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize disruption to instructional activities.
  • Serve as the operational lead for classroom technology support activities, helping prioritize work assignments and coordinate support coverage.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring support staff and student workers.
  • Develop, implement, and improve classroom technology support procedures, standards, and service practices.
  • Provide training and one-on-one support to faculty and staff on the effective use of instructional technologies.
  • Create and maintain user guides, technical documentation, troubleshooting resources, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support classroom technology refresh projects, equipment lifecycle planning, and replacement initiatives.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, testing, and deployment of classroom technology systems and digital signage solutions.
  • Evaluate classroom technology needs and recommend enhancements that improve usability, reliability, and supportability.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, asset management, repair, and service records.

Additional Details

  • Work model: On-site

  • Hands-on role supporting classroom and instructional technology environments
  • May require lifting equipment and working in confined spaces during installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background verification and employment eligibility requirements
  • Candidates should be prepared to provide a portfolio showcasing prior audiovisual system design work

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of classroom audiovisual systems, instructional presentation technologies, computers, and related peripherals.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting audiovisual and classroom technology systems.
  • Understanding of instructional technologies and presentation environments.
  • Ability to diagnose technical issues and implement effective solutions in time-sensitive situations.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain professional under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Experience coordinating multiple support requests while effectively managing priorities.
  • Ability to create technical documentation, user guides, and operational procedures.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting classroom or instructional technology environments.
  • 3+ years of experience designing classroom technology and audiovisual solutions.
  • 3+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Experience supporting higher education, educational technology, or large multi-room instructional environments.
  • Familiarity with classroom technology lifecycle management, asset tracking, and support operations.
  • Experience implementing service standards, operational processes, and support best practices.
  • Professional certifications related to audiovisual technology, collaboration systems, or technology support are a plus.
