Step into an impactful role as a Special Education Teacher supporting kindergarten students in a self-contained classroom environment for the 2026/2027 school year. Located near Arlington Heights and servicing schools in the Gurnee area, this is a full-time, contract-based opportunity designed for educators with a passion for helping students achieve their fullest potential.

In this position, you'll provide individualized instruction and care to kindergarten students within a self-contained setting. If you have the dedication, expertise, and desire to make a meaningful difference in young learners’ lives, this role will allow you to build foundational academic and life skills for students with diverse learning needs.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Valid Illinois Special Education (IL SPED) certification is required
  • Prior experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience as a self-contained classroom teacher is strongly valued
  • Commitment to developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong classroom management and collaborative skills
  • Deep understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for kindergarten-aged students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with individualized needs
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Develop lesson plans that accommodate the unique strengths and challenges of each child
  • Work in collaboration with fellow educators, therapists, and families to support holistic student development
  • Communicate progress clearly and regularly to parents/guardians
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records in compliance with all state and district requirements
