Staff Pharmacist in Itasca, IL
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Support critical pharmacy operations within a busy warehouse environment as a Staff Pharmacist. This contract opportunity lasts six months and offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The role requires active and clear Illinois pharmacist licensure and familiarity with IV medication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee receipt, proper storage, and timely distribution of medications, including refrigerated and specialty items.
- Manage inventory levels by ordering supplies and minimizing waste or expired products.
- Maintain compliance with USP standards and state/federal regulations for medication storage.
- Verify medication orders prior to preparation or shipment.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians involved in inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping processes.
- Collaborate with sterile compounding pharmacists and technicians to ensure adequate supplies for patient orders.
- Review controlled substance inventory and ensure accurate documentation.
- Conduct cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and quality assurance audits.
- Work closely with purchasing, nursing, and operations teams to ensure timely medication delivery.
- Utilize pharmacy software and inventory management systems for tracking medications and supplies.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Active Illinois pharmacist license in good standing.
- Some knowledge of IV medications and sterile compounding processes.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Experience supervising pharmacy technicians or warehouse staff is preferred.
- Proficiency with pharmacy inventory software.
