Step into a rewarding opportunity guiding young learners as a Special Education Teacher focused on severe/profound needs at the elementary level. This contract role is available for a skilled educator ready to start as soon as possible and continue through the end of the school year. You’ll be working full-time at a single elementary school near Newport, RI, supporting a dedicated community of students and staff.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification from the RI Department of Education as an All Grades Special Education - Severe Intellectual Disabilities Teacher (required)
  • Experience working with elementary-age students with severe or profound intellectual disabilities
  • Passion for individualized education and inclusive school communities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Adaptability to support diverse learning needs within an elementary school environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of students with severe/profound intellectual disabilities
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and administrators to foster student success
  • Implement behavioral and academic interventions effectively
  • Communicate progress with families and participate in IEP meetings
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations for special education
