Special Education Teacher in Kansas City, MO

Qualifications:

• Valid state certification in Special Education
• Experience or knowledge working with Essential Life Skills programs
• Strong skills in adapting curriculum and instruction for diverse learners
• Ability to foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and staff
• Previous experience working with high school-aged students preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to a caseload of 7-9 high school students in a Life Skills classroom
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Adapt instructional materials and methods to address each student’s unique needs and strengths
• Work collaboratively with other educators, support staff, and families to support students’ progress
• Promote independence, community awareness, and practical daily living skills
• Track student growth, progress, and regularly communicate updates to families and team members
