We are looking for an HR Specialist to support leave administration and payroll activities for a busy organization in S. Dennis, Massachusetts. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who can balance employee support with careful documentation, regulatory awareness, and day-to-day accuracy. The person in this role will help manage protected leave programs, maintain organized records, and contribute to compliant payroll processing in a collaborative, service-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate employee leave submissions and supporting materials to determine eligibility and assign the correct leave category.
• Track active leave cases, including timelines, required certifications, status updates, and expected return-to-work dates.
• Maintain complete and accurate employee records to support legal compliance, internal reporting, and audit readiness.
• Review leave-related files and payroll activity to identify discrepancies and help ensure accurate processing.
• Administer payroll tasks with close attention to detail, deadlines, and confidentiality standards.
• Respond to employee questions regarding leave options, documentation requirements, and related procedures with professionalism and clarity.
• Support compliance with Massachusetts employment laws, federal regulations, and company policies tied to leave administration and pay practices.• Prior experience in human resources, leave administration, payroll support, or a closely related function.
• Working knowledge of protected leave programs, accommodations, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work coordination.
• Familiarity with Massachusetts labor requirements and applicable federal employment regulations.
• Strong recordkeeping skills with the ability to manage sensitive information accurately and discreetly.
• Comfortable using computer systems for documentation, tracking, and routine administrative work.
• Clear and courteous communication skills when assisting employees and coordinating with internal teams.
• Ability to audit details carefully, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
