Special Education Teacher in Sunnyvale, CA

Here’s an exciting contract opportunity for a Special Education Teacher eager to make a difference in a supportive school environment near Milpitas and Sunnyvale, CA. In this part-time role, you'll provide instruction to a small group of 7th and 8th-grade students (ages 12 and 13), contributing to a meaningful and inclusive educational experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am – 11am, with Wednesdays from 8am – 10am, covering first to third periods. You'll be the primary teacher for a caseload between 14 and 16 students and play a vital role in shaping their learning journey.

This position offers a highly competitive hourly rate ranging from $40 to $55, ensuring your expertise and dedication are well rewarded.

Qualifications:

• Current and active California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Teaching Credential (required)
• Previous experience working with middle school students in a special education setting preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to adapt lesson plans to individual student needs and learning styles
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and small-group instruction to 7th and 8th grade students with mild/moderate disabilities
• Develop and modify lesson plans in accordance with IEP goals
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction as needed
• Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
