Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract role shaping the educational journey of high school students as a Special Education Teacher. Work with a dedicated group of learners in grades 9–12, providing specialized instruction and support throughout the academic year. This full-time position (40 hours per week) offers the opportunity to focus exclusively on one campus, fostering meaningful relationships with students and multidisciplinary colleagues.
The selected educator will deliver direct instruction in a self-contained special education setting, serving students who receive specialized services for most of the school day. You’ll craft and execute individualized education programs (IEPs), coordinate with general education teachers, support personnel, related service providers, and engage families to ensure holistic student development. The class sizes range from 12 to 25 students, allowing for impactful teaching and targeted interventions.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Arizona State Special Education Certification (AZ SPED Cert)
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a closely related field
- Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card
- Active AZ Psych License
- Experience working with high school-age students preferred
- Proven ability to create and implement IEPs
- Strong collaborative and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct instruction in a classroom dedicated to special education
- Adapting curriculum and assessments for diverse learning needs
- Collaborating with general education staff, related service providers, and families
- Attending IEP and staff meetings
- Participating in onboarding, ongoing training, and interdisciplinary team discussions
