Job Description
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of middle school students with autism by stepping into this rewarding, full-time contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher. Located in a supportive educational setting, you’ll have a unique chance to work onsite in an Autistic Support Classroom, specifically guiding and mentoring 7th and 8th graders. This role offers a dynamic teaching atmosphere, with a manageable class size of approximately six students and dedicated Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) in the room to help deliver individualized instruction and care.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
- Experience working with middle school students, particularly in grades 7 and 8
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for supporting students on the autism spectrum
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and lesson planning for diverse learning needs
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, comfortable working alongside PCAs and other educational professionals
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and productive classroom environment
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans to support student growth
- Differentiate instruction to meet a variety of learning styles and abilities
- Collaborate closely with classroom PCAs, therapists, and parents to ensure student success
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting approaches as needed
- Maintain accurate records and uphold compliance with educational standards
- Support social, emotional, and academic development for all students
