Special Education Teacher - Frederick, MD

Two full-time contract positions are available for certified professionals to work onsite with dedicated teams at Oakdale Middle School and a second, to-be-determined location. The term runs from August 17th to June 4th, offering invaluable classroom experience while helping students thrive.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification in Special Education for the appropriate age group (elementary or middle school, as relevant to each site)
• Previous experience working with diverse learners, particularly in self-contained or specialized program settings
• Strong classroom management skills and an empathetic, patient approach
• Ability to develop, adapt, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Excellent communication skills for ongoing collaboration with students, parents, and staff

Your Daily Role Will Include:

• Delivering high-quality instruction tailored for students in a self-contained or “Learning for Life” environment
• Managing a caseload of up to 15 students at Oakdale Middle School (7:30 am – 3:30 pm) or 10 students at the elementary site (9:00 am – 3:30 pm)
• Creating and overseeing lesson plans, assessments, and IEP goals
• Fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere
• Working collaboratively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff
