Step into a dynamic role supporting young adults as a Special Education Teacher, working with students aged 18 to 21 at a dedicated transition center. This contract opportunity is full-time, following a Monday through Friday schedule (8:00 am–4:00 pm), with direct engagement both in the classroom and out in the community. You’ll play a key part in teaching essential skills for job readiness and independent living, focusing on students’ growth during a critical time in their lives.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Hold an active Colorado Department of Education (CDE) license, or be in the process of obtaining one (must submit proof with application)
  • At least one year of classroom teaching experience required
  • Flexible, collaborative team player who thrives in a diverse educational environment
  • Capable of managing and personally connecting with a caseload of 12 students
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for IEP and BSP development

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavioral Support Plans (BSPs)
  • Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and report progress
  • Instruct students in job readiness, independence, and community engagement skills
  • Facilitate classroom and community-based learning experiences
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure student success
  • Maintain a supportive, inclusive learning environment tailored to young adults’ needs
