Intervention Specialist

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Job Type: Full-Time
Department: Special Education / Student Support
Reports To: Building Principal / Special Education Director

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intervention Specialist to provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will be committed to helping every student achieve academic, social, and behavioral success while collaborating closely with teachers, families, and support staff.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized instruction based on students' IEP goals and learning needs.
Provide specialized instruction in individual, small-group, and classroom settings.
Monitor and document student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
Collaborate with general education teachers to provide effective accommodations and modifications.
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs.
Maintain accurate student records and required special education documentation.
Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, teachers, administrators, and related-service providers.
Support positive classroom behavior and social-emotional development.
Use differentiated instructional strategies to address a variety of learning styles and abilities.
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Stay current with applicable special education practices, policies, and requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.


Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field required.
Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist teaching license or appropriate Ohio licensure eligibility.
Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
Knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, accommodations, and differentiated instruction.
Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and student-support professionals.
Patience, flexibility, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to student success.
Ability to successfully complete required background checks and other employment requirements.
