Job Description
Make a difference as a contract Special Education Teacher supporting high school students in an Essential Life Skills program. This role involves working onsite with a small caseload of 7-9 students, providing focused, individualized instruction near Lees Summit, MO. Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state certification in Special Education (or eligibility pending)
- Experience teaching or supporting high school students with significant learning needs, preferably in a Life Skills or similar program
- Strong understanding of IEP implementation, functional academics, and behavioral supports
- Proficiency in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
- Genuine commitment to empowering students with diverse abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and deliver engaging instruction tailored to students’ individual IEP goals
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages independence and life skill development
- Track student progress, collect data, and prepare regular reports on IEP goal achievement
- Partner with paraeducators and specialists to adapt strategies and materials
- Communicate consistently and constructively with families and school teams
- Maintain compliance with all state and district policies
