Controller
Job Description
We are looking for a Controller to lead the company’s accounting operations and deliver reliable financial insight that supports sound business decisions. This position plays a central role in financial reporting, cost analysis, and operational performance within a manufacturing environment. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, the role partners closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to strengthen controls, improve profitability, and support continued growth.
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily accounting activities across the general ledger, fixed assets, and month-end close while overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
• Produce monthly financial statements and management reporting packages with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
• Evaluate profit and loss results each month and translate financial outcomes into clear observations for leadership.
• Track gross margin performance, manufacturing spend, and product-level profitability to highlight risks and opportunities.
• Enhance cost accounting practices by maintaining standard costing methods, inventory valuation, and related reporting processes.
• Review manufacturing variances, inventory movement, labor utilization, and overhead trends to support better operational decisions.
• Work with operations and purchasing teams to identify savings opportunities, monitor material costs, and improve process efficiency.
• Provide financial input on pricing strategies through detailed cost and margin analysis, while supporting data accuracy across related business functions.
• Support annual budgeting, ongoing forecasting, audit coordination, and tax preparation in partnership with external advisors.
• Lead and develop the accounting team while serving as the key accounting contact for the organization’s ERP environment and reporting improvements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful exposure to a manufacturing setting.
• Prior experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing finance, including inventory accounting, standard costing, and cost analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to assess P& L performance, margin trends, and production-related costs.
• Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical problem-solving ability.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations, production, sales, purchasing, and leadership teams.
