Special Education Teacher - Derry, New Hampshire
Job Description

Two full-time contract opportunities are available for experienced Special Education Teachers working with 5th/6th grade students for the upcoming school year, from August 2026 to June 2027.
In these roles, you will either work as a resource room teacher managing a caseload of approximately 15 students or serve as the Life Skills/Intensive Needs teacher leading a self-contained classroom of three students with complex medical needs and/or autism spectrum disorders. Each student in the self-contained program is assigned a dedicated paraprofessional, giving you the support necessary to provide specialized instruction and individualized care.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with 5th-6th grade students in a classroom setting
- Strong understanding of IEP process and ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized plans
- Familiarity with resource room and/or intensive needs/life skills educational models
- Compassion, adaptability, and clear communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct academic and social-emotional instruction tailored to student needs
- Manage caseloads, track progress, and maintain all required documentation
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Deliver interventions and accommodations as articulated in IEPs
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and effective classroom climate
