Consolidation Accountant
Job Description
We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to support financial consolidation, reporting, and budgeting activities for a manufacturing organization in greater Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky. This position plays a key role in bringing together financial results across entities, analyzing reporting accuracy, and helping improve the efficiency of accounting processes through automation. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with advanced spreadsheet skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with subsidiary teams.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the preparation of consolidated financial results for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles, including support for financial statement disclosures.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and investigate differences to help ensure accurate and timely close activities.
• Review submissions from subsidiary entities, identify reporting issues, and provide guidance to support consistent accounting treatment.
• Contribute to internal and external financial reporting by organizing, validating, and analyzing data from multiple business units.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and develop automated solutions that strengthen accounting and reporting workflows.
• Participate in the annual budgeting process by assisting with planning, consolidation of budget inputs, and related financial analysis.
• Perform budget-versus-actual reviews and highlight significant variances, trends, and areas requiring management attention.
• Support lease accounting activities and conduct technical accounting research to address complex reporting questions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on assigned accounting projects and provide support for additional finance responsibilities as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.• Typically 6–9 years of accounting experience, with strong exposure to consolidation and financial reporting activities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of technical accounting principles and the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance.
• Advanced Excel skills with experience using formulas, data analysis tools, and process automation techniques.
• Hands-on experience working with ERP platforms and accounting software in a multi-entity environment.
• Background in budgeting, variance analysis, and general accounting operations.
• Familiarity with systems and tools such as ADP, Ceridian, CCH Sales Tax, and related financial applications is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with subsidiary teams and internal business partners.
