We are looking for an experienced Project Accountant to support the financial management of construction projects in Lincoln, Nebraska. This role partners closely with project teams to maintain accurate job records, strengthen billing accuracy, and provide clear financial visibility throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong construction accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage project costs, subcontractor documentation, and contract-related billing requirements with precision.

Responsibilities:
• Examine client agreements to identify invoicing terms, documentation needs, lien waiver obligations, and other project accounting requirements.
• Establish and update project records in Viewpoint Vista, including cost structures, contract values, billing formats, estimates, and approved change activity.
• Monitor budgets, commitments, and actual project spending to confirm charges are recorded to the correct jobs and cost categories.
• Partner with Project Managers and billing personnel to produce timely, accurate customer invoices supported by complete backup documentation.
• Validate labor pricing, equipment or rental charges, and markup calculations before invoice submission.
• Support project teams with cost reporting, financial tracking, and other accounting tasks that improve visibility into job performance.
• Evaluate project financial results and communicate meaningful findings to Project Managers and senior leadership to support decision-making.
• Oversee project audit activities, review subcontractor billings and compliance documents, and coordinate with Accounts Payable to help ensure vendors are paid according to agreed terms.• At least 5 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within construction or a related project-based environment.
• Strong working knowledge of construction accounting practices, including job costing, contract billing, and change order administration.
• Hands-on experience with Viewpoint Vista or similar project accounting software.
• Ability to review subcontractor invoices, supporting documents, and compliance records with a high level of accuracy.
• Understanding of sales and use tax treatment and proper accounting classification for project-related costs.
• Experience performing or leading project audits and preparing financial analysis for operational stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Accounts Payable, and leadership teams.
