Job Description
Step into a fulfilling contract opportunity supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher. This position focuses on working with a dedicated group of students, ages 12 to 14, with a caseload of 16 at a single, welcoming campus near Columbus, OH. From August 12, 2026, through June 1, 2027, you’ll have 40 hours per week over five days, enabling you to make a meaningful difference throughout the academic year.
Qualifications & Background:
- Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist K-12 Mild/Moderate License or Alternative Intervention Specialist License required
- Experience supporting middle school students preferred
- Strong understanding of special education law, compliance, and IEP implementation
- Excellent collaboration and co-planning abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support and specialized instruction in alignment with each student’s IEP
- Co-plan and collaborate directly with 7th and 8th grade Math and English teachers
- Write, attend, and lead IEP meetings, ensuring each student’s needs are thoroughly addressed
- Maintain meticulous documentation, including records of services, progress monitoring, and communications with families
- Manage all compliance requirements and meet applicable deadlines
- Uphold additional typical teaching responsibilities as needed within the school environment
