Sign Language Interpreter in Harvey, LA

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of high school students by serving as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational setting. This contract position, located in the greater New Orleans area, focuses on delivering interpreting services to high school-aged students within a supportive school environment. The assignment is full-time, following the school calendar from mid-August 2026 through late May 2027, Monday through Friday, for a total of 35 hours per week.

Key Qualifications:

• Experience in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter, with specific exposure to VOCO interpreting.
• EIPA score of 4.0 or higher (performance and written), or credentials from RID or NIC, provided the written requirement is also met.
• Active listing on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Department of Health).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with staff and support student success.
• Ability to adapt to varying caseloads and work across multiple school sites as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and clear interpretation services for high school students in classroom settings and school-related activities.
• Work closely with students, teachers, and staff to facilitate effective learning and communication.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold all ethical standards for educational interpreters.
• Adapt interpretation techniques to match individual student needs and educational goals.
• Participate in required meetings and professional development related to interpreting services or educational best practices.
