Inspire growth and learning as a Resource Exceptional Children Teacher at a dynamic middle school setting! This contract opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students with developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, and emotional challenges. You'll work collaboratively in an environment that values inclusion and boasts a supportive, involved Exceptional Children Program. The school embraces both push-in and pull-out IEP models, providing variety in your day-to-day work with a manageable caseload of 20 students or fewer.
Your role will involve creating tailored lesson plans, managing IEP compliance, and working with a dedicated team to empower each student’s success academically and socially. The district’s positive culture and active involvement in special education ensures you’ll have resources and encouragement from the administration and colleagues alike.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Special Education
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation, particularly push-in/pull-out models
- Experience working with middle school students preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability when working with diverse learning and behavioral needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction in academic and behavioral skills
- Develop, update, and implement IEPs in collaboration with staff and families
- Track student progress and maintain accurate records
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment
- Partner with other educators, therapists, and support staff for student planning
- Effectively manage classroom dynamics and student behaviors
This full-time opportunity offers 37.5–40 hours per week, starting as soon as possible and running through the beginning of June 2027. Compensation starts at $38 per hour, with potential increases based on your experience.
