DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance staff to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards.

· Plan, schedule, and oversee daily maintenance and repair activities for all equipment and facilities.

· Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on machinery, tools, and building systems as needed.

· Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.

· Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts.

· Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

· Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with vendors or contractors for specialized repairs.

· Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and service histories.

· Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and recommend cost-saving initiatives.

· Collaborate with other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and support operational needs.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Proficiency in understanding, reading, writing, and speaking English.

· Solid understanding of workplace safety standards and best practices.

· Proven supervisory experience with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a maintenance team.

· Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in equipment maintenance and repair, including conveyor belt systems.

· Familiarity with facility management systems and related software tools.

· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues efficiently.

· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

· Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk, push, pull, stoop, crawl, lift, or crouch. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move objects weighing between 10 to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 75 pounds.

· Valid driver’s license.

· Willingness to learn and grow in the role.

· The work environment may involve exposure to typical facility conditions. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

· Successful completion of a drug screening.

· Proof of valid employment authorization.

· Strong ability to collaborate and work effectively with team members across the organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· A minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience.

· Previous work experience in a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) or similar industrial environment.

· Demonstrated ability to implement and manage preventive maintenance programs.

SAFETY

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and household and commercial waste. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This position requires company-provided safety equipment, and any additional personal protective equipment deemed necessary by the company to ensure a safe work environment. This may include a hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, uniform, safety vest, and safety boots. You must wear any other PPE provided by the company.

There is an additional strong emphasis on the application of lockout/tagout procedures.

The Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station is owned and operated by BLT Enterprises. As developer, owner, and operator of Material Recovery Facilities and Transfer Stations throughout California, BLT's team has processed and/or recycled more than 11,000 tons of waste per day in Los Angeles, Burbank, Fremont, Oxnard, and Sacramento.
